I spilled some cereal this morning and went to get a broom out of the closet outside.  I turn around to go back inside and find that I've locked myself out. After checking all of the other doors, I proceeded to walk barefoot and in my bathrobe to mom's school so I could get her key.  I can only imagine what the people in passing cars were thinking.  Two joggers were actually concerned about me, though, so score one for good samaritans.

I previewed Wolverine at midnight and was so wired afterwards that I couldn't/can't go to sleep.  Good movie though.

So the South Korea thing won't be happening due to medical issues but I do have a job and this means that I'll be in town if that research grant at UAB goes through.  TWO DAYS UNTIL WOLVERINE!

The teaching English thing appears to be in the bag.  Now I just need to get the five million documents necessary to go through the rest of the process which...I hate paper work.  Also, I should look up how to teach English as a second language, see if there's an online course I can take or something.  I'm sure there is I just...have to find/do it.  Procrastination vs. awesome opportunity.  We'll see who wins.

tbc.

Still jobless but I have a niece and an offer to teach English in South Korea.  Phone interview tomorrow so we'll see how that goes./  Pretty cool, huh?

I have seen it twice and will probably see it at least one more time even though I shouldn't be spending money.  And I've got my mom reading the novel, how cool is that?

new job?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I might get a job as a "lab tech" at a shoe clinic.  From the way the guy described it, I'll be helping, like, make shoes and stuff...which I think sounds kind of cool.  Job prospects certainly help me deal with the depression I've got after a somewhat manic episode.  And tomorrow I've got to meet with the Rabbi at the Temple where I teach Hebrew/religious school, which is going to be awkward since I missed two classes AND my mom called him to explain why I was missing.  Man, sometimes I really don't know what to do with myself.

So, it's official.  In a couple weeks I'm not gonna have a job anymore.  Awesome.

January 19th, 2009

Yeah, I'm in serious danger of losing my job.  Technically, the job I have right now doesn't exist anymore and I have to "apply" for a new one.  The whole deal sucks for reasons I don't want to go into and I can only hope that the anthro professor I talked to at UAB thinks I'm useful enough to be some kind assistant.  sigh.

I'm trying to come up with my lesson plan for the next semester and...it's not going so well.  Actually, it's not going at all.  I'v egot the values I want to focus on and I know the message I want to get across but I can't think of ways to do that which don't involve me talking at them ad nauseum.  It doesn't help that I'm feeling a bit of a downswing, emotionally speaking, coming on.  So, I'm looking for that creative fruit from which some juices might start flowing.  Oy vey.

Was that cryptic enough?

If you know me, probably not. )

In other news, on my drive home I noticed that the moon seemed particularly HUGE.  Apparently, it's at its closest point to Earth in its orbit of the entire year.  That was a lot of prepositions.  It's true; Yahoo! said so.  Also, I suck at lj cutting.

ETA  Ha! I fixed it! *pumps fist*

SCORE PLUS A MILLION!  And the speech...he made me feel something I don't often feel.  I've tried to describe this feeling before without success and today is no different. All I can say is that there was a moment last night when I was hit with a Serious Ooomph, right in the sweet spot and...yeah.
